Today I learned about two events via Twitter of which I was previously unaware; they included: 1) “Health Care Summit Conversations”; and the “Minnesota Medical Group Management Association’s” meeting. In addition, I was aware of, and planned to follow the “live tweets” from the Health Affairs’ “Health Information Techology Conference” as well.
The summit conversations was sponsored by “America’s Agenda” and can be accessed via http://summitconversations.org/. There was no live Tweetstream nor hashtag used for this event.
The Minnestota Medical Group Management Association meeting was brought to my attention by Lee Aase, of the Mayo Clinic. Lee assigned the hashtag for this event as #mmgma, tweets under the handle of @LeeAase, and was the only on-site “healthtweep”, while several of downstream tweeps extended and recycled the updates into a conference feed.
The Health Affairs event witnessed a lively Tweetstream via the #hahit hashtag. I understand that conference video will be available and posted shortly. The conference link with agenda and speakers is:
For those of us interested in, but not able to physically attend the events, the ability to track with the content, albeit somewhat filtered by on-site tweeps, was both engaging and informative. The links posted, from pictures of the event, its faculty, and facilities to referenced articles or company websites is more than a vicarious means of otherwise participating in the conversation.
I love the power of the live web! And potential “Twitter hubris” notwithstanding, I am in awe of its power to serve as its central nervous system…. more will be revealed; as each day a new Twitter application seems to launch in the market. In my experience, FriendFeed.com + Twitter = the central spine of the live web.
